The Embassy of Ukraine in the UAE, in cooperation with the Fiker Institute, held a cultural and intellectual evening dedicated to Ukrainian history, identity, and cultural heritage.
The event took place on the occasion of the presentation of the book “The Ukrainian Volya” by Ukrainian author Serhiy Spivakovsky, which brings together 39 true stories and explores the Ukrainian concept of volya — freedom, dignity, and inner strength — through the lived experiences of people who choose resilience in times of uncertainty.
The evening was opened by the Director of the Fiker Institute (Dubai), Dubai Abulhoul, followed by welcoming remarks from H.E. Oleksandr Balanutsa, Ambassador of Ukraine to the UAE.
A special highlight of the event was a musical performance by the Chervona Kalyna Ensemble, which performed an original composition by Serhiy Spivakovsky. This marked the first vocal performance ever held at the Fiker Institute, adding a profound emotional dimension and underscoring the power of Ukrainian word and music. The event brought together diplomats, researchers, and members of the Fiker Institute’s intellectual community for a meaningful exchange on history, identity, and the strength of narratives. Such initiatives are an important element of Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy and contribute to a deeper understanding of the Ukrainian experience, values, and contemporary challenges in the international context.
