Omani Minister of Heritage and Tourism: The new tourism law is a qualitative leap in sector development.

“Salem bin Mohammed Al-Mahrouqi, the Omani Minister of Heritage and Tourism, explained that the new tourism law establishes a general framework for the rapidly evolving and ever-changing tourism sector. This framework is designed to accommodate sector development without the continuous need for legislative amendments.

In a press statement, Al-Mahrouqi emphasized that the tourism law represents a qualitative leap in regulating and developing the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman. He pointed out that the executive regulations will complement the law, allowing for the realization of Oman’s tourism strategy, various plans, and programs. This alignment with the government’s direction aims to build a regionally and globally competitive tourism sector.”

“The Minister of Heritage and Tourism also emphasized that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism will use the new tourism law to contribute to enhancing Oman’s position as a leading sustainable tourist destination on both regional and international levels. Tourists visit to experience unique and diverse offerings. He urged all relevant entities to utilize this new legal framework to promote diversity in sustainable tourism development.

Al-Mahrouqi pointed out that the law is divided into five chapters containing 21 articles that provide legislative tools to enhance the quality of tourism services, regulate tourism activities, simplify related procedures, establish suitable frameworks for utilizing tourist areas and sites, and ensure the preservation of resources sustainably. It also offers legal means to enhance the quality of tourism services and products while keeping up with developments and changes in the tourism sector at the local, regional, and global levels.”
