At a rate of 29.3%…increase in passenger traffic through Abu Dhabi Airport in the third quarter of 2023

A report released by Abu Dhabi International Airport on Friday revealed good travel figures for the third quarter of 2023. The report indicated that 5,951,025 passengers traveled through Abu Dhabi International Airport from July 1 to September 30, showing a 29.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

Abu Dhabi also witnessed significant growth in international destinations, with 24 airlines operating flights to 119 destinations around the world through Abu Dhabi International Airport. The most popular destinations through Abu Dhabi International Airport in the third quarter of 2023 were London (238,196 passengers), Mumbai (228,189 passengers), Kochi (191,883 passengers), Cairo (172,570 passengers), and Doha (168,417 passengers).

Abu Dhabi International Airport recorded 37,903 takeoffs and landings during the third quarter of 2023, marking a 21.8% increase compared to the 31,123 flights during the third quarter of 2022.

During the same period, Abu Dhabi Airports handled 143,979 tons of air cargo through Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Elena Soriani, Acting CEO and Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Airports, said, “We are pleased to announce that travel rates continue to reflect exponential growth in passenger numbers, as well as takeoffs and landings. We continue to attract more prominent international airlines to Abu Dhabi, with Air France and SunExpress planning to operate flights through Abu Dhabi International Airport during the upcoming winter season as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA) schedules.”

Soriani added, “We are delighted to announce that British Airways recently confirmed it will resume its flights to Abu Dhabi starting in April 2024. We are confident that the new Passenger Terminal “A” will contribute to the growth of airlines and passenger traffic, with its new capabilities and state-of-the-art facilities meeting international standards.”
