Nizar Fakhoury, the CEO of Destination Development at the Royal Commission for AlUla in Saudi Arabia, emphasized that AlUla is a destination attracting significant interest from around the world. The commission is dedicated to creating a suitable tourism environment for all, including the development and updating of programs and the organization of events annually.
Fakhoury spoke about future programs suitable for children that the commission is working on, stating, “Our approach is to integrate children into every race and sports event we organize. For example, during the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques International Endurance Cup, several children participated in the starting line alongside professionals. This adds to their sense of being part of the sport and the event, strengthening their connection to these sports, some of which have been part of their culture for a long time.”
He further added, “Currently, we are focusing on integrating children into various activities and events. AlUla’s skies provide an opportunity for children under the age of five to fly at heights of 3,000 or 4,000 feet, offering an exciting experience. Similarly, our adventure activities cater to children aged 9, 10, or 11, depending on their height and weight.”
Fakhoury emphasized that the commission is working to expand options that better suit children and is preparing to offer these in the coming years.
