Egypt expects 80% increase in Turkish tourists

Egypt’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ghada Shalaby, said that Egypt has achieved a 7% growth in the number of tourists arriving during the period from the beginning of this year to mid-February.

Shalaby added that Egypt aims to achieve an increase of between 25 and 30% in the number of arrivals annually, to achieve its goals of reaching 30 million tourists by the end of 2028.

Egypt attracted 14.9 mn tourists last year, a year-on-year increase of more than 27%, marking the highest level in the history of Egyptian tourism, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Cabinet in mid-January.

Egypt aims to attract tourists from five new tourist markets during 2024, including (Australia, China, India, Brazil and Turkey), in addition to increasing the number of arrivals from 18 European and Arab tourist markets, according to Shalaby.
