Muscat International Airport received the award for the Best Airport in the Middle East for Customer Experience in 2023 in the 15-20 million passenger category. Additionally, Salalah Airport won the award for Best Airport in the Middle East for Customer Experience in 2023 in the 2 million passenger category. These awards were announced by the Airports Council International (ACI) in partnership with the leading travel technology company Amadeus.
Salalah Airport also won awards for Best Airport Staff in the Middle East across all categories, Best Smoothest Airport Processes in the Middle East across all categories, Best Fun Airport in the Middle East, and Best Clean Airport in the Middle East across all categories.
The recognition of both Muscat and Salalah airports with these awards is a testament to the efforts of Oman’s airports to align with the significant initiatives led by the government of the Sultanate of Oman, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This aligns with the country’s broader Vision 2040, with a particular focus on the aviation sector as outlined in the strategy. The support provided in recent years has greatly enhanced the infrastructure of air transport to and from the Sultanate of Oman, leveraging its strategic location among nations worldwide.
