Oman Through Time Museum celebrates one-year anniversary

Today, Oman Across Ages Museum celebrates its first anniversary since its opening on March 13, 2023, under the auspices of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, may God protect him, marking a year filled with numerous achievements and successes on various fronts internally and externally, a source of pride for the museum’s board of trustees and all employees of the Oman Across Ages Museum.

Eng. Yaqdhan bin Abdullah Al Harthi, the Director-General of Oman Across Ages Museum, stated: “Today, we celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of this cultural landmark and unique architectural masterpiece, as the museum receives support and attention to become a cultural addition to the Omani cultural scene.”

He added that in conjunction with the first anniversary of the museum’s opening, visitors will be granted free entry to the museum exhibition halls on Wednesday, March 13. The museum seeks to highlight the unique character of the Sultanate of Oman, introduce its distinctive features and rich history, and its ongoing development on both the local and international levels. It also outlines a vision to become a world-class destination, contributing to raising awareness, strengthening Omani youth’s connection with their rich cultural heritage, inspiring them to actively contribute to their country’s development, and shaping its landmarks.

The Director-General of Oman Across Ages Museum mentioned that during its first year of operation, the museum welcomed over 450,000 visitors, including official delegations, government and private institutions, and school visits. Additionally, the museum witnessed an intensification of events and programs, hosting external participations, including hosting the International Museum Building Conference last February. Furthermore, 70 events were conducted across various fields, along with 74 educational programs, with the number of participants reaching 2,243.

It’s worth mentioning that Oman Across Ages Museum participated in 11 external events, including the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, UAE, the Museum Leadership and Management Conference in Qatar, the International Museum Building Conference in Belgium, the 34th Conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information in Saudi Arabia, a cultural conference at Isfahan University, the 56th Conference of Arab Studies in Denmark, among others. Additionally, the museum presented a scientific paper titled “Omani Inscriptions… Birth, Development, and Spread” at the Sharjah Museum, participated in the Berlin Exchange Exhibition 2024, GITEX 2023 in Dubai for information technology, and a workshop in Saudi Arabia.
