Emirates Airlines is preparing to resume flights of the giant Airbus A380 to Riyadh in April, after a 4-year hiatus, making it the shortest route for the giant in 2024, according to data from “Simply Flying,” a specialist in marketing consultancy for the aviation sector.

The data revealed that the Airbus A380 will replace the 777-300ER aircraft, with the switch offering about 40% additional seats for sale for each departure this summer, including first and business class, allowing it to capitalize on demand during peak season, according to the UAE newspaper “Al Bayan.”

With the launch of this flight, Riyadh will be the third destination in the Middle East to be served by the giant after Muscat and Jeddah. Emirates Airlines had used the double-decker giant to Riyadh between April 29, 2019, and March 22, 2020. The airport will welcome its return on April 1.

Emirates SkyCargo, a subsidiary of Emirates Airlines, forecasted earlier this month a growth of up to 8% in its operations during 2024.

Nabil Sultan, Emirates Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Cargo Division, stated on the sidelines of the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, that the cargo sector in the UAE plays a vital role with continuous growth rates, confirming the fundamental role played by the air cargo sector in the UAE in terms of global trade movement.
