The increased demand for travel during the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr holiday has led to significant price hikes in ticket fares in the UAE, with increases of up to 25% compared to normal days.
It is anticipated that this percentage will rise further, exceeding 40% for some destinations, as the holiday approaches.
According to online booking websites, ticket prices for flights departing to Cairo ranged between AED 1100 and 1700 one way, while fares to Beirut ranged from AED 1200 to 1900, and to the Jordanian capital Amman from AED 1300 to 1600. These prices are subject to continuous change depending on supply and demand dynamics.
Salah Mansour, CEO of “STS” in Dubai Links Group, stated: “The demand for travel is accelerating as the relatively long Eid Al-Fitr holiday approaches, driven by significant interest from both families and individuals for tourism, entertainment, or returning to their home countries and families.” He pointed out the growing demand for flights coming to Dubai, especially from Gulf and regional destinations.
He added that the demand for travel at the beginning of Eid vacation increases by more than 40% compared to the demand at the beginning of Ramadan, while price hikes range between 40% and 60% for some destinations, possibly exceeding that depending on demand volume. Regional destinations such as Cairo, Amman, Beirut, and Baghdad have captured the largest share of travel demand for expatriates. As for tourism, demand is focused on destinations like Turkey, the United Kingdom, Eastern European countries, France, Germany, and others.
Sources in the tourism and travel sector have noted a particular increase in bookings to regional destinations such as Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as tourist destinations popular among Emirati families like Turkey and Eastern European countries, in addition to some European destinations like the UK, France, Germany, and some Asian destinations like Thailand.
