Oman Sats Cargo, a subsidiary of Oman Airports, has achieved a record-breaking operational efficiency milestone by handling 18,200 metric tons of cargo during the month of March 2024. This achievement represents the highest monthly cargo volume handled since the post-COVID-19 period, reflecting strong recovery and a significant step in Oman Sats’ logistical capabilities.

The increase in cargo handling is attributed to bold sales promotion initiatives by Oman Sats aimed at boosting the export of perishable products such as peppers, mushrooms, and beans.

These initiatives primarily focused on major international markets, including Japan, Italy, France, Paris, and London, significantly contributing to the increase in cargo volume recorded during the month. In another important step to support the local agriculture and fisheries sectors, Oman Sats also announced a 50% discount on handling fees for exported perishable cargo. This generous discount highlights the company’s commitment to supporting the Omani economy by enhancing the competitiveness of its local products on the global stage.

Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al-Hosni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Sats, stated: “This achievement is not only a testament to the operational capabilities of the cargo building services at Muscat International Airport but also a clear evidence of Oman Sats’ dedication to supporting the Sultanate’s economic diversification strategy by facilitating easier access of local market products to international markets, laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth.”

On his part, ST Tang, Executive Director of Oman Sats, commented: “The record performance achieved this month compared to previous years is a clear testament to the effectiveness of our strategic initiatives.” He added: “Our focus on enhancing service quality and providing significant incentives for exporting perishable products not only benefits our customers but also directly contributes to the local economy by supporting Oman’s agriculture and fisheries sectors. Oman Sats Cargo continues to play a vital role in enhancing Oman’s position as a leading logistics hub in the region, driven by innovation, strategic partnerships, and a deep commitment to excellence.”
