On the sidelines of its participation in the Arabian Travel Market, Sardinia unveiled the organization of a press conference at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The conference was attended by Franco Cocurullo, Regional Tourism Advisor; Giovanna Loriga, Deputy Commercial Director for Aviation and Marketing at Olbia Airport; and Jehan Afendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai.

The conference centered around the introduction of the new flight between Dubai and Olbia, expected to be operated by flydubai, one of the Emirates Group companies, on Tuesdays and Saturdays between June 15th and August 31st, 2024. Additionally, citizens of the UAE were informed about the diverse tourism offerings presented by the captivating island.

Sardinia’s goal in launching this new flight is to attract UAE citizens on one hand and a broader segment of European and American professionals living in Dubai and across the country on the other, especially those seeking milder climates to spend their vacations during the summer heat.

Commenting on this topic, Regional Tourism Advisor Cocurullo stated: “The island of Sardinia is widely associated in the minds of Gulf citizens (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman) with the concept of luxury tourism; however, we wanted to tell our story to a wider audience. We look forward to seizing the opportunity to announce flydubai flights between Dubai and Olbia, featuring seats in both business and economy class, to highlight Sardinia’s diverse tourism offerings from both an experiential and economic perspective. We are confident that the many attractive features of our wonderful island, including world-famous beach destinations, rich cultural offerings, delicious cuisine and beverage experiences, exploration, and sports activities, are capable of attracting a new segment of tourists eager to discover what Sardinia has to offer.”
