General Authority of Civil Aviation: Establishing 6 new airports for general aviation in the Kingdom

Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia, revealed bold plans to boost the aviation sector in the Kingdom, pointing to the authority’s efforts in establishing 6 new airports specifically for general aviation.

Al-Duailej pointed out in remarks published by “Al-Arabiya” to the records achieved in 2023, where the number of passengers reached 112 million passengers, an increase of 26% over the previous year.

The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia stressed that the aviation strategy aims to increase the number of passengers to more than 150 million passengers, in addition to raising the number of direct stations from about 100 to more than 250 stations by 2030.

Al-Duailej stressed the importance of increasing air connectivity and expanding the capacity of air freight in the Kingdom, as the authority aims to double the design capacity of freight warehouses to 4.5 million tons, compared to less than one million tons in 2019.

It is worth noting that the number of passengers at Saudi airports reached 112 million passengers during 2023, an increase of 26% over 2022
