Prince Sultan bin Nasser Praises the Role of Media in Serving Tourism

The necessity of using all tools and technologies to enhance intra-Gulf tourism

Al-Dagheim: Establishing a Gulf Association for Tourism Media is a prominent recommendation of the participants

His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Honorary President of the Saudi Society for Tourism Media, praised the positive and developmental role played by Gulf media institutions and the role of specialized journalists in helping to advance the Gulf tourism sector. He emphasized the contribution of producing distinguished content that reflects the exceptional tourism and heritage assets of our countries.

During his attendance at the closing activities of the media symposium, held in conjunction with the fourteenth edition of the Riyadh Travel Fair in Riyadh, under the title “Integration of Tourism among the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries,” His Highness highlighted the importance of specialized media and its role in serving tourism. He emphasized its alignment with the future visions of the Gulf states and the unification of efforts to build developmental tourism media.

Prince Sultan affirmed the importance of organizing awareness campaigns in the field of tourism and spreading a high-level cultural tourism culture with Gulf integration and technical support. He called for providing the necessary tools and technology to serve these objectives.

The symposium, organized by the Saudi Society for Tourism Media in conjunction with the Riyadh Travel Fair at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, witnessed the participation of a select group of media professionals from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, entrepreneurs, tourism enthusiasts, and students from media and tourism colleges in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The symposium discussed the reality of intra-Gulf tourism and the most important tools for promoting joint tourism projects among the Gulf countries in the upcoming stage. They also explored the most significant tourism events capable of attracting Gulf tourists, especially in a region with similar tourism patterns due to several commonalities among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This helps in succeeding in relying on and developing local tourism, particularly in light of the Gulf decisions aimed at enhancing intra-Gulf tourism, most notably the unified Gulf visa and its importance for Gulf and Arab tourism.

Khaled Al-Dagheim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Society for Tourism Media, explained that the symposium concluded its activities with recommendations, most notably:

  1. Activating the role of tourism research and studies and the importance of providing accurate information to investors and decision-makers.
  2. Striving to establish a Gulf association concerned with tourism media, responsible for raising awareness of the importance of tourism as a vital source of economy and development.

Al-Dagheim said that the symposium emphasized the importance of specializing in tourism media and the necessity of including it in educational and training curricula. He concluded his statement by highlighting the importance of the reality and future of intra-Gulf tourism, especially in light of the implementation of the unified Gulf visa decision and its entry into execution phases. The focus was also on the common tourism patterns in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the role of tourism media in promoting Gulf tourism and integrating its different patterns.

It is worth noting that the Tourism Media Association is a media partner for the events of the fourteenth edition of the Riyadh Travel Fair. It has prepared programs and events during the fair period from the 27th to the 29th of this month at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
