The municipal presence teams in the Al Dhafra Municipality organized a campaign to remove Ghaf trees in Zayed City. The campaign resulted in the removal of 5018 trees as part of the municipality’s efforts to combat harmful and unwanted trees.

The campaign aimed to remove randomly growing trees in residential areas and main roads, specifically targeting Ghaf trees. The removed trees were then relocated to designated sites. The Ghaf trees tend to grow densely during the rainy season, and the campaign also focused on eliminating any distortions to preserve the overall appearance, environmental safety, and minimize the damage caused by these trees.

Al Dhafra Municipality is committed to launching various initiatives that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, aligning with the “Year of Sustainability.” These initiatives include the removal of stunted trees along the Zayed City – Tarif road belt and replanting the belt with Ghaf trees and other local environmental plants proven successful in several locations. These plants do not consume water and contribute to stabilizing sand movement on the road. Additionally, the campaign involved removing Ghaf trees from the Baynounah Reserve to achieve strategic goals for environmental sustainability and optimal utilization of natural resources.
