Whether you need to travel to another city, to a different state, a foreign country or simply go somewhere locally, there is no shortage of ways that you can reach your destination. From travelling to commuting to just getting around, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to the different modes of transport that we can use.
Typically, the faster and more convenient transport is, the more expensive it will be. For example, taking a taxi is much more expensive than waiting for the public bus. However, this is not always the case, as in recent years, airfare has provided an often much cheaper domestic travel alternative to coach or rail travel which can not only take longer but can cost more too. Choosing the right mode of travel for your needs is crucial to ensure that you find the most suitable option for your journey.
Let’s take a look at some of the most common modes of transport and their benefits.
TRAVELLING BY BOAT
There is a certain allure to taking to the high seas and travelling by boat. Whether you buy a yacht and sail around the world or you take the ferry across Sydney Harbour, there is a lot to be said for the feeling of freedom that travelling by boat can provide. When you are travelling by boat, there are often no baggage restrictions, fewer additional charges than with airlines and many people report an overall more relaxing experience.
WALKING AROUND
Walking is, without doubt, the cheapest and easiest mode of transport to use, however, it does, naturally, have some serious limitations. While walking is a great alternative to driving or taking public transport for shorter journeys, there’s only so far that you can go. However, choosing to walk will provide you with many health benefits such as an increase in Vitamin D, improving your cardiovascular health, helping you to stay fit and allowing you to move slowly so you can truly appreciate where you are.
SELF-DRIVING
The best thing about travelling in your own vehicle is the flexibility that it provides. You can stop where you like, pull over when you feel like it, depart at a time that suits you and leave from right outside your door. Whether you are travelling by car, motorbike, campervan, commercial van, lorry, truck or your own bus, driving yourself, for many people, is the ultimate way to get around.
RIDING THE RAILS
Travelling by train can take you across the country, through city suburbs and allow you to easily travel between a multitude of exciting destinations. While train travel is restrictive in that the routes are fixed, there are a lot of advantages to riding the rails. Train travel is comfortable, allowing you to arrive at your destination feeling relaxed and refreshed. There are also often facilities such as dining cars, toilets and baby changing areas that you can use. Finally, the best thing about train travel is that it is not affected by traffic, meaning it is reliable and punctual with regards to arrival and departure times.
AIR TRAVEL
Although once reserved for the wealthier classes, air travel has become much more affordable with budget airlines entering the space and offering fantastic deals. Air travel gives you the advantage of being able to fly to almost anywhere in the world and to do it in comfort. Air travel, for many, is a more luxurious way to travel and it is much faster, especially for long distances or international journeys, where it is typically the only real choice to get to your destination.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT FORM OF TRAVEL FOR YOUR NEXT JOURNEY
When you are selecting transport for your next journey, whether it is local or international, you need to ensure that you choose a form of transport, or a combination of transport options that will work for your budget, get you to your destination safely and keep you comfortable en route. With the right transport option, you can be sure that your next trip will be off to the right start from the outset.
