In the “Ultra 2023” awards, given based on the votes of thousands of readers of the prestigious travel magazine, Dubai International Airport won the title of the Best Airport in the World.
Dubai Airports Foundation announced through its “Ex” platform account that “this achievement confirms our commitment to providing an exceptional, enjoyable, and smooth travel experience for our traveling guests.” The total number of passengers through Dubai International Airport, the world’s largest international air transport hub, reached 64.5 million passengers during the first nine months of this year, with an increase of 39.3% compared to the same period last year and 1% higher than 2019 (pre-COVID-19 pandemic). Dubai Airports Foundation expects the recovery of passenger traffic to continue until the end of 2023, reaching 86.8 million passengers through Dubai International Airport, surpassing the passenger numbers recorded in 2019.
Additionally, Dubai Airports Foundation announced yesterday that the company “Roofar” won the Innovative Idea Challenge to improve guest experience, organized by the “Vista” platform and held on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2023, which concluded its activities last week.
“Vista” targets startups and entrepreneurs in the aviation sector from around the world. “Roofar,” a UK-based startup, won the award for its smart guide dedicated to travelers, relying on augmented and virtual reality technologies to provide information about each step of the traveler’s journey. The guide allows travelers to explore airport facilities before departure using augmented reality through smartphones.
