Dubai Airport continued to dominate the largest share of the busiest airline routes in the Middle East region during March 2024, according to data released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which provides data on airports and airlines. Six out of the top 10 busiest airline routes in the region (accounting for 60%) either originate from or fly to Dubai Airport.
According to the IATA data, the Dubai-Riyadh route ranked second in the region in terms of seat capacity on international flights during the current month, with approximately 303.4 thousand seats. This was followed by the Dubai-London Heathrow route, which ranked third in the region with a total of 284.3 thousand seats.
The data also showed that the Dubai-Jeddah route ranked fourth with 274.8 thousand seats, followed by the Mumbai-Dubai route in fifth place with approximately 241.9 thousand seats. The Delhi-Dubai route ranked seventh with around 207.7 thousand seats, and the Dubai-Kuwait route ranked ninth with 185.1 thousand seats. The Cairo-Jeddah route topped the region in terms of seat capacity on scheduled international flights during March, with approximately 524.6 thousand seats, while the Cairo-Riyadh route ranked sixth in the region with 237.1 thousand seats.
Data published by the International Air Transport Association, which provides data on airports and airlines, showed that the total number of scheduled seats on international flights through Dubai International Airport reached approximately 4.98 million seats in March 2024, maintaining its position as the largest international airport in terms of scheduled seat capacity, with a significant lead compared to London Heathrow Airport, which ranked second.
