EgyptAir, the national carrier of the Arab Republic of Egypt, announced today a new contract to update its air fleet in collaboration with Air Lease Corporation, one of the world’s largest companies specializing in this field. The agreement involves an operational lease system for 18 new Boeing B737-8 MAX aircraft.

This contract marks the first deal between Air Lease Corporation and EgyptAir. The Boeing B737-8 MAX model represents the first addition to EgyptAir’s fleet, with the first aircraft expected to be delivered starting in 2025. The remaining aircraft are scheduled to be delivered gradually by the end of 2026.

Steve F. Udvar-Házy, the CEO of Air Lease Corporation, stated, “We are pleased to announce this deal to purchase 18 aircraft of this model with our new client, EgyptAir, which is our first lessee for this model. We take pride in collaborating with EgyptAir, being a leading airline in North Africa. EgyptAir will continue to excel in the market with these new-generation aircraft, replacing its old fleet of short and medium-range aircraft with more luxurious, modern, and fuel-efficient planes. This will significantly enhance EgyptAir’s fleet and increase its competitiveness.”
