“Etihad Airways and SAS Partner for Enhanced Travel Options” Etihad Airways has signed a strategic agreement with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to provide customers of both airlines with a wider range of travel options across their respective networks.
This agreement enables guests to book using a single ticket, streamlining their travel procedures at the beginning of their journey. They can also check their baggage through to their final destination. Paul Jacobson, the CEO of SAS and Executive Vice President for Commercial Affairs, expressed his satisfaction with this new partnership. He stated that the partnership expands the available options for SAS customers traveling to and from Abu Dhabi, as well as to destinations like India, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and more. He added that they will continue to enhance international connectivity. Erik De la Mare, Chief Revenue Officer of Etihad Airways, mentioned that this agreement comes following their launch of flights to Copenhagen. It allows for a smoother travel experience for their guests from Northern Europe to enjoy Abu Dhabi while having the option to travel across their growing global network, including destinations in the Indian subcontinent, East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Furthermore, this connection offers guests the possibility of traveling through Nordic countries to destinations such as Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Gothenburg, Bergen, and Århus. Erik De also noted that this agreement is the latest in their strategy to promote cultural and economic growth in Abu Dhabi by welcoming more guests to their homeland to enjoy enhanced travel benefits and wonderful experiences. It is worth mentioning that this agreement strengthens the relationship between both companies, including the partnership with SAS in Etihad Guest, the airline’s frequent flyer program. Members of Etihad Guest will earn miles when traveling with SAS, while EuroBonus members will earn miles when flying with Etihad. These services are currently being expanded to include all flights across both airlines’ networks. The codeshare agreement is expected to be implemented at the end of December 2023.
