Akram Amar, the CEO of Sahary Center in Sharjah, stated that the UAE has become one of the leading countries in terms of distinguished and major shopping centers. These centers feature globally renowned brands, making them a preferred destination for both local and international visitors. He emphasized that the external European tourism compass is now pointing towards the UAE, which has become the preferred destination for European tourists in the region, especially during the winter season that attracts millions of tourists. Amar highlighted an increase in the number of visitors to Sahara Center, with a 50% growth compared to the previous year, and a 10% increase in local customers during 2023.

The shopping center includes 550 commercial outlets, with an occupancy rate of 96%, offering diverse and multipurpose services. Discounts are available before the end of the current year, along with draws for three cars and trips to Italy.

Amar mentioned that the UAE has experienced a record increase in tourist numbers in 2023, accelerating growth in all sectors of the national economy. The retail sector in the UAE has significantly benefited from the notable influx of tourists to the country, resulting in a substantial increase in both visitor numbers and sales during this period.

He noted that Sahara Center has witnessed a 50% increase in visitor traffic since January of the current year. The center attracted global clients, with a majority coming from Russia and Eastern Europe. Additionally, there was a 10% increase in local customer traffic. The center provides a unique shopping experience for all, and seasonal sales have seen exceptionally high growth throughout 2023. The CEO expressed optimism for the upcoming year, expecting significant sales growth and continued overall economic growth in the UAE. He anticipates that the country’s various attractions and excellent infrastructure will continue to attract more visitors, contributing to the sustained growth of the economy.
