Flydubai announced today record-breaking annual results for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2023, representing the airline’s strongest performance to date.

Commenting on the announcement of the company’s annual results for 2023, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Flydubai, said: “In its fifteenth year of operation, Flydubai has emerged as a key player in the aviation industry in the United Arab Emirates and a major contributor to Dubai’s economy. Its robust business model has enabled it to achieve rapid growth even during challenging times, doubling its operational fleet and expanding its network since the pandemic.”

His Highness added, “This record achievement is a result of the wise vision of the leadership in the UAE and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, which solidified the success of the aviation industry and enhanced Flydubai’s role as a major contributor in this pivotal sector.”

He further stated, “Flydubai demonstrated the correctness of its decision to accelerate aircraft deliveries during the pandemic, maintaining its workforce to advance its ambitious plans for network expansion. The airline’s insightful strategy reflected in its record-breaking performance. I am proud of the work done by the Flydubai team to achieve these outstanding results, setting higher standards for the coming years to maintain its crucial role in supporting Dubai’s leading position in global trade, tourism, and aviation.”

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, commented on these record results: “Building on our strong performance in the past, we continued the momentum of growth, surpassing all pre-pandemic levels to make this year the most profitable in the company’s history. The confidence we enjoy from our leadership and key partners reaffirms our commitment to connecting more underserved markets to Dubai and enabling more people to travel seamlessly. Over 108 million passengers have chosen Flydubai since our inaugural flight in 2009, reflecting the attractiveness of our services, products, and the appeal of the city we proudly carry the name of – Dubai.”

Historical Earnings:

  • The company achieved record profits of AED 2.1 billion (USD 572 million), marking a 75% growth compared to 2022.
  • Total revenues reached AED 11.2 billion (USD 3 billion), compared to AED 9.1 billion (USD 2.5 billion) in 2022, reflecting a 23% growth.
  • 13.8 million passengers were carried, with a 31% growth compared to 2022, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
  • 13 new aircraft joined Flydubai’s fleet in 2023, and seat capacity (ASKMs) grew by 27% to 40,292/ km².
