Data released by Aviation Week, specialized in the aviation sector, reveals that Flydubai’s spending on aircraft repair, maintenance, and overhaul will reach 14.68 billion dirhams ($4 billion) over 10 years.

Flydubai has continuously worked on developing and enhancing its internal capabilities over the past years. Thanks to the technical and engineering competencies possessed by the company, it obtained approval in 2022 to carry out basic maintenance operations (CAR-145) from the General Civil Aviation Authority, enabling the company to perform inspection and maintenance operations (C-checks), including maintenance related to the entry of Boeing 737 Max aircraft into service for its fleet.

Expansion Plans

In parallel with its fleet expansion plan and the acquisition of new aircraft, Flydubai has revealed its plans to establish an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Dubai South, with a total value of up to $190 million.

Over the past years, Flydubai has worked on enhancing and developing its technical and engineering teams and has recruited a team of 455 engineers working in line maintenance, technical services, materials, and workshops dedicated to ensuring the airworthiness and full safety of the growing company fleet.

Recruitment Campaigns

More than 230 engineers will join the growing workforce at Flydubai over the next 12 months.

Continuous recruitment campaigns will ensure Flydubai’s readiness for the opening of its maintenance and repair facility by 2026.

The expected delivery volumes for Flydubai in the coming years and the deals the carrier has made will reflect on the carrier’s maintenance spending, which will increase in line with fleet growth. Flydubai has received 13 new aircraft.
