The heads of the tourism sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held their preparatory meeting in Doha today ahead of the eighth ministerial meeting scheduled for tomorrow. The meeting aims to review and evaluate the efforts to stimulate joint Gulf work in the tourism sector. It seeks to identify the necessary mechanisms to activate agreed-upon initiatives and strategies, notably the Gulf Tourism Strategy (2023-2030), endorsed by the Supreme Council of the GCC in its forty-third session.

Eng. Abdulaziz Ali AlMolawi, Head of Marketing and Promotion at Qatar Tourism, welcomed the officials responsible for the tourism sector. He highlighted that their meeting falls under the presidency of Qatar for the current session of the GCC. They anticipate a session full of initiatives and further progress by enhancing integration among GCC countries in the tourism sector. The goal is to propel tourism cooperation between sister countries, addressing issues related to sector development in the region. The aim is to produce important recommendations to boost the sector, to be presented to the ministers responsible for Gulf tourism.

AlMolawi pointed out several indicators and signs suggesting a successful and fruitful meeting for the ministers responsible for tourism in the GCC countries. This comes amid a collective will among GCC countries to enhance their tourism sectors, as tourism growth plays a crucial role in advancing economic diversification in the region. Promoting intra-GCC tourism has become a vital pillar for achieving further tourism growth, particularly given the economic growth witnessed by these countries
