The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi inaugurated the Sir Bani Yas Island Visitor Center to serve as a cultural resource for tourists and local and international visitors, allowing them to explore the island’s history and cultural significance.

The new center offers an interactive and information-rich experience in an exhibition space that guests can visit after exploring the Church and Monastery site. It showcases a diverse collection of artifacts spanning different periods from various locations on the island. The center is equipped with display screens providing information about the artifacts and their history.

As part of the restoration efforts carried out by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in 2019, the Church and Monastery site on Sir Bani Yas Island was reopened to the public after the enhancement of facilities and services, along with the installation of informative panels to guide visitors.

His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, stated that the department is committed to preserving the cultural heritage of the country. The opening of the new Visitor Center will contribute to enhancing awareness and interest in the modern and ancient history of the country. The center will allow visitors to explore the history of Sir Bani Yas Island in more detail, providing them with the opportunity to see the island through the eyes of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God have mercy on him,” making it a wonderful experience for any future guest planning to visit the island.

The cultural heritage sites on Sir Bani Yas Island are not limited to the Church and Monastery alone. The island is also home to archaeological sites dating back to the Neolithic period.

The Sir Bani Yas Island Visitor Center welcomes the public free of charge from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday to Thursday, and from 2 pm to 6 pm on Fridays.
