Dubai Media presents “Ramadan in Dubai,” an operetta showcasing Dubai’s past, present, and future as part of the “Ramadan in Dubai” campaign launched by the Dubai Media Council in partnership with government and private sector entities. The operetta features musical scenes and diverse vocal performances, aiming to highlight the emirate’s distinctive festive atmosphere during the holy month.
Written by Adel Khazaam, Director of Planning and Artistic Content at Dubai Channels, the scenario of this operetta is the largest of its kind in the history of Ramadan operettas in the UAE. It narrates Dubai’s history, revives its past charm, showcases its present splendor, and presents its future aspirations. The operetta will be broadcasted on Dubai Media channels, the Awani digital platform, and all official Dubai Media accounts on social media.
Adel Khazaam emphasized Dubai Media’s commitment to investing its employees’ energies in producing high-quality creative works. He stated that “Ramadan in Dubai” operetta covers all segments of society and highlights various tourist landmarks in the emirate, such as the Burj Khalifa and the Museum of the Future, in addition to a collection of popular scenes inspired by the past.
According to Khazaam, the production of Ramadan artistic operettas gives Dubai Media’s program schedule a unique flavor. He mentioned that the composition and artistic vision of the work took a considerable amount of time to develop, as it combines multiple elements into a large panoramic work. The operetta starts from the present with a family celebrating the arrival of Ramadan, then transitions to the past, depicting Ramadan games for children and traditional iftar scenes, before culminating in a future where Emirati youth envision a prosperous and benevolent society.
The operetta features a cast of artists and celebrities who bring vitality to its segments. Artists such as Abdullah Saleh, Marai Al-Halaiyan, Fatima Al-Hosani, Ashjan, and Sogha, along with numerous groups of children and youth, participate in acting scenes and performances. Composer Khalid Nasser provides the musical vision for the operetta, drawing on his extensive experience in the field. Osama Al-Sharqi directs the work magnificently, employing innovative visual techniques and new filming angles.
Khazaam highlighted the final scene of the operetta, where musical melodies and lyrics converge as three timelines intersect. This scene resembles a dialogue between different generations united by the spirit of the city and the manifestations of love and kindness during the holy month.
