Saudi Airlines, the new national carrier that relies on the latest digital technologies in aviation, fully owned by the Public Investment Fund, has officially announced its joining of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the largest initiative to encourage companies worldwide to adopt best practices in sustainability and corporate social responsibility, aiming to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The official joining of Saudi Airlines to this global compact came through a letter sent by the CEO of Saudi Airlines, Tony Douglas, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, outlining the work to achieve the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
As an active participant in the Compact, Saudi Airlines will adopt sustainable policies and practices aligned with the principles of corporate social responsibility in areas such as human rights, labor rights, environmental practices, and anti-corruption measures, in addition to providing regular reports on progress in these efforts.
Saudi Airlines will unveil its first sustainability report before commencing its commercial operations officially in mid-2025 as part of efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations and to work alongside partners and stakeholders to accelerate progress towards these goals by 2030.
The CEO of Saudi Airlines emphasized the company’s commitment to achieving the sustainable goals outlined by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by adopting global best practices and leading the sector towards integrating environmental, social, and governance standards in all areas.
