Saudi Arabia prepares to use flying taxis as a new means during Hajj seasons

Saudi Airlines, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, is preparing to use the flying taxi as a new means in the Hajj seasons, as the flying taxi will transport passengers between King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah and Makkah hotels.

Eng. Abdullah Al-Shahrani, General Manager of Corporate Communications at Saudi Group and its official spokesman, said: “The Lilium electric aircraft is one of the first eVTOL and fully electric powered vertical air vehicles, and after completing the necessary arrangements, these aircraft will fly the pilgrims during the Hajj and Umrah seasons from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to the airstrips in Makkah hotels, and will transport four to six passengers.

Al Shahrani added: “The Lilium aircraft has a low carbon emissions and is an environmentally friendly aircraft, making it one of the enablers of sustainable air travel, and shortening flight time by covering a maximum distance of 250 km.
