Dubai is preparing to welcome a greater influx of visitors by investing significantly in the expansion of Al Maktoum Airport in the coming years.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said that the percentage of repeat visitors within a year now stands at 25%.

He also pointed out the growing number of Chinese tourists, with many of them traveling individually rather than in tour groups.

Dubai is working on increasing the capacity of airlines following the introduction of a new visa that facilitates entry to the UAE, aiming to attract more visitors. The city is evolving to become more than just a transit hub and a destination for short stays.

Emirates Airlines announced this month that it will resume its services to Nigeria starting from October 1.

Additionally, the number of available hotel beds has more than doubled over the past decade, including more facilities for budget travelers. The city has successfully transformed itself into a global destination.
