Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, will sponsor, in the presence of the Ambassador of Switzerland, next Sunday, February 25, 2024, a workshop entitled “Meteorites in the Sultanate of Oman and Combating Illegal Trafficking”
The workshop, organized by the Ministry in cooperation with the Department of Earth Sciences at the Natural History Museum in Switzerland, aims to spread awareness of the importance of scientific meteorites in the Sultanate of Oman, and aims to familiarize workers in the field of customs inspection at land, air and sea ports with meteorites and their types and access to them, and to enable workers in the field of antiquities and museums to deal with rock samples, and to introduce tourism companies that attract tourist groups to the importance of meteorites scientifically, cognitively and organizationally, and to combat tampering with them.
