The Dubai Press Club announced the organization of the ninth edition of the “Emirati Media Forum” under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Media Council, on March 18th, with the attendance of a select group of Emirati media institution leaders, local newspaper editors-in-chief, prominent writers, thinkers, opinion-makers, and media professionals in the UAE.

This year’s forum will address topics and issues of significant importance, especially as the ninth edition takes place amidst rapidly changing regional dynamics, requiring clear media policies and a cohesive and impactful media discourse. Additionally, there is a need for tools to enable the Emirati media to play an influential role in shaping international public opinion on key issues.

The forum will host a panel discussion featuring a select group of media leaders to discuss how to establish a new Emirati media model that keeps pace with rapid changes and the UAE’s significant achievements. It will also evaluate the available opportunities for the Emirati media to produce competitive content, the real challenges hindering the transition of print newspapers to the required level of development, and other important issues and questions concerning the current state and future of Emirati media.

On this occasion, Mona Ghanem Al-Marri, Vice President and Executive Director of Dubai Media Council, emphasized that the UAE stands on the threshold of an important phase of development and significant achievements, accompanied by rapid regional and global changes across all sectors, necessitating a media presence with a high level of responsibility and awareness.

Dr. Maitha bint Isa Buhumaid, Director of the Dubai Press Club, expressed her appreciation for the contributions of Emirati media in supporting the comprehensive development march in the country over the past decades. She said, “The wise leadership spared no effort in creating a supportive climate for the media in an atmosphere characterized by freedom. This imposes a double responsibility on local media leaders and officials to exert more efforts to provide evolved content that meets the requirements of the present era.
