With the participation of 127 countries, the 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicks off tomorrow.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate, the 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the largest and most prestigious Jiu-Jitsu event on the local, regional and global calendar, will kick off tomorrow, Wednesday, at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.

During the official press conference held at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Abu Dhabi, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation announced that this 15th edition will be exceptional by all standards, making it the biggest, grandest, and most distinguished event in the sport’s history. The tournament will showcase unparalleled local, regional, and international participation, featuring elite Jiu-Jitsu professionals from 127 countries, competing over ten days in the Jiu-Jitsu capital, Abu Dhabi. The championship will witness the participation of 7,000 players, including top-ranked athletes, and the total prize money reaches AED 3 million.

The championship’s schedule, spanning ten days, includes the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival on November 1 and 2, the Para Jiu-Jitsu competitions for people with disabilities on November 1, the Youth competitions on November 3 and 4, the Amateur competitions on November 5, the Masters on November 6 and 7, and the Professional competitions on November 8, 9, and 10. The Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Award ceremony will take place on the evening of November 11.

Mohammed Saeed Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Championship’s Organizing Committee, stated, “Today, we celebrate 15 years of success, excellence, and sporting creativity. This championship has propelled the sport onto the global stage, created stars, paved the way for champions from around the world to achieve glory and fame, and spread happiness and pride to the Jiu-Jitsu family worldwide. Today, we stand together to take pride in the achievements of our sons and daughters who have become global Jiu-Jitsu champions.”

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, said, “The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is a leader on the international sports scene, and we are proud today that the 15th edition of the championship has witnessed a record-breaking participation rate. Compared to last year, we see a 40% increase in the number of players, clubs, and academies participating from 127 countries worldwide. This marks the largest participation in the history of the championship since its launch in 2009.”
