Reflecting China’s leading economic position as one of the fastest growing countries globally, as well as its outstanding contributions to global tourism, Gulf Air, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced the launch of its first flights to Guangzhou, the southern industrial and cultural city of China, and Shanghai, China’s largest city and vibrant financial hub, from May 2024.

Jeffrey Goh, Group CEO of Gulf Air, expressed his happiness with the opportunity to expand Gulf Air in the Asia-Pacific region by operating flights linking the Kingdom of Bahrain with the Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai, stressing that this step is an important pillar of Gulf Air’s expansion strategy, as it will provide many options and flexible travel experiences for travelers, whether for trade or tourism, and will open new horizons for trade and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Gulf Air will operate flights from Bahrain International Airport to Shanghai Pudong International Airport with 4 flights per week starting from 28 May 2024, and 3 flights per week to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport from 29 May 2024, using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which includes one of the most luxurious business class in the aviation market.
