1,500 gaming and digital sports industry experts participate in the Expo Gym Summit

More than 1,500 experts from the gaming and digital sports industry participated in the “Game Expo Summit,” the leading international gaming event in Dubai aimed at enhancing the growth of this sector across the region.

Supported by the Pocket Gamer Connects conference, the summit took place over two days as part of the Dubai Festival for Games and Digital Sports 2024, organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. The summit’s second edition highlighted the latest trends, innovative technologies, and thriving opportunities in the ever-evolving global gaming field.

Interactive sessions during the summit explored the latest developments across 10 gaming tracks, each focusing on specific topics. Discussions covered growth opportunities in a competitive market, leveraging modern technologies like artificial intelligence and 5G, the latest trends and technologies in revenue-generating skills, and updated information on the gaming market growth in the Middle East and the expected opportunities within it. Additionally, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Economy conducted a unique workshop addressing business and legal issues related to intellectual property and video games.

The summit brought together over 90 speakers from gaming industry experts, government entities, and leading global gaming brands for knowledge exchange through more than 70 tracks and dialogue sessions. This reaffirms its position as a leading platform for the gaming industry in the region and a forum for knowledge exchange among companies. The speaker lineup included Her Excellency Aisha Abdullah Miran, Director General of the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA); Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation; Dr. Marwan Al Zarouni, Strategic Advisor at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Abdullah Al Qaoud, Director at the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, and others.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for Intellectual Property Sector at the Ministry of Economy, stated: “The gaming sector is an important part of our economy’s growth, blending technology with art, and we aim to transform the UAE into a global center for creativity and talented individuals.
