Maria Elena Agüero, Secretary-General of “Club de Madrid” participated in high-level discussions with senior figures, business leaders, and diplomats with the aim of strengthening relations with the United Arab Emirates and opening more avenues of cooperation in various fields.

Agüero’s two-day visit to Abu Dhabi featured many notable events, including an iftar hosted by Dr. Alan Baroon, a member of the Club de Madrid’s Circle of Presidents in the Middle East, at his residence in Abu Dhabi. The event was attended by Agüero, Arthur Mattli, Swiss Ambassador to the UAE, and Imam Hassan Chalghoumi, President of the French Imams Conference.

The occasion brought together approximately 100 distinguished guests in the UAE, allowing for the enhancement of new and existing partnerships in the context of tolerance and shared goals.

The Secretary-General of “Club de Madrid” emphasized the growing role of the UAE on the global stage and “Club de Madrid’s” interest in exploring more avenues of cooperation with the country in this and other areas. She noted that the club has significant capabilities, allowing it to share its experience in individual and collective governance through a network of veteran leaders and former heads of state and government committed to upholding the rule of law, good governance, sustainable and inclusive development, and effective multilateral cooperation for peace.

It’s worth noting that “Club de Madrid” is an independent, non-profit organization established to achieve several goals, including advancing cooperation and dialogue worldwide and supporting issues of mutual interest.
